There is a tipping point of “farm size” where the family farm can have fair chance of making money more often than losing money. This is why a lot of farmers have outside employment to make ends meet.
Note – large non-family corporate farms are not as profitable as “Moderate-sales Small Family Farms.” This suggests that farming is more than an investment in farmland. It’s a way of life that requires personal commitment to succeed.
